It has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve as the Mayor of our Hawaiʻi County.
Over the past three years, our team has worked tirelessly toward building a better future for all of us. I am deeply proud of the progress that we have made together, and I know we are poised to accomplish even more in the years ahead.
Thus far, our administration has focused on tackling our community's many challenges, from improving our infrastructure and transportation networks to addressing housing shortages and investing in a renewable energy economy.
Our commitment to transparency and accountability has guided our every action, and we will never stop putting the needs of our community first.

When COVID-19 threatened small businesses nationwide, we partnered with local credit unions to distribute $22 million in emergency CARES funds to help businesses to keep their doors open and lights on.
6,900
When there were just over 1,000 affordable housing units in the County pipeline, we worked with developers, non-profit organizations and other community partners to add 6,900 units to the housing pipeline.
$4.2M
When there was only $450,000 budgeted to maintain 300+ Parks facilities, we worked with our Finance Department to allocate $4.2 million to ensure that our parks are preserved for generations to come.

When housing insecurity was at an all-time high, we worked to distribute over $23 million to help more than 7,800 Hawai‘i Island children and adults prevent eviction, utility shutoffs, and homelessness.
34 Days
When the average wait time for a new single-family residential permit was over 200 days, we made adjustments, hired a consultant, and bolstered our team to bring the average wait to 34 days.
$25M
When public transportation became a necessity for our working class, we expanded our routes, secured a $25 million grant for new transit hubs in Kona and Pāhoa, and made service FREE for all our residents.
